The 4th generation Toyota Tacoma is one of the most capable trucks to ever roll off the factory floor, and the overlanding community has taken notice. With a redesigned frame, updated suspension, and a fresh lineup of trim levels like the TRD Pro and Trailhunter, the 2024+ Tacoma is a serious platform to build on. At Bullet Proof Fabricating, we've been developing bolt-on parts specifically for the 4th gen, and in this post we're walking you through what a complete BPF overland build looks like from front to back.
Step 1: Front End — Grille, Light Bar, and Camera Relocation
The first thing most builders tackle is the front end. If you're running a TRD Pro or Trailhunter grille, our BPF Universal Light Bar Bracket ($100) lets you mount a 20-inch light bar without any permanent modifications. It's made from aluminum, powder coated black, and adjusts to fit most 20-inch bars on the market.
If you're swapping to a TRD Pro or Trailhunter grille from a base trim, you'll also need our BPF Front Camera Relocation Bracket ($35). It's a plug-and-play ABS piece that moves your factory camera to the new grille with zero cutting or wiring changes.
Want to add some personality? Our BPF TRD Pro and Trail hunter Grill Letters ($120) are made from UV-resistant ASA plastic, contoured to match the grille perfectly, and available in Black, White, or Gray.
Step 2: Recovery — Points and Rear Protection
No overland build is complete without solid recovery gear. Our BPF 2024+ Tacoma Recovery Points ($250) are cut from 1/2" A36 steel and bolt directly into the factory front mount locations. No bumper removal, no cutting. They accept a standard 3/4" shackle and include an additional 3/8" bolt through the frame for extra security.
Out back, our BPF Rear Tow Hooks with Integrated Skid Plates take protection to the next level. Built from 3/16" steel with gusset reinforcement, they bolt on using heavy-duty 5/8" hardware. You can grab the recovery points only ($350), skid plates only ($240), or the full package ($590) — a solid deal if you want complete rear coverage.
Step 3: Bed — Stiffeners and Bed Rack
The 4th gen Tacoma bed is great, but like any truck bed it benefits from some reinforcement when you start loading it up with gear. Our BPF Bed Stiffeners ($199) are 3/16" steel L-brackets that bolt into the rear corners using factory holes. No drilling required. They tie the bedsides to the bed floor, dramatically reducing flex when you're loaded up or on rough terrain.
The centerpiece of any serious Tacoma build is the bed rack. Our BPF Folding Bed Rack fits 2005-2026 Tacomas (2nd, 3rd, and 4th gen) and is built from 11-gauge CNC laser-cut steel. It features folding MOLLE side panels for bed access, built-in grab handles, lockable interior storage, and a full accessory mounting system. Available in powder coat black ($1,499) or raw steel ($1,299) for those who want to finish it themselves.

Why Bolt-On Matters
Every single part in this build is bolt-on. No welding, no cutting, no permanent modifications. That means you can install everything yourself in your driveway with basic hand tools, and your truck stays warranty-friendly. That's the BPF philosophy: parts that are built tough enough to trust on the trail, but designed so any Tacoma owner can install them at home.
